Everyone using the same room name (and password, if you set one) meets in the same town. Up to 40 people (above 16, only presenters can talk). The password never leaves your browser.

Something not working? These checks update live. Most problems are a blocked microphone, a VPN or firewall, or someone using a different room link.

Call transcript
Only people who switch this on are transcribed, and only while their mic is live. Chrome and Edge send the audio to their own speech service to do this.

The list at the top is your own browser's links to each person. "Across the room" and "Each computer" come from everyone else's browsers, which answer every few seconds while this is open (people on an older version show a question mark). Copy report puts all of it, and the recent events, on the clipboard to paste into a message.
Privacy and your data
What this is
GibeTalkin runs in your browser. There are no accounts, no adverts, no cookies and no analytics, and nothing you say, show or type is recorded or kept on a server.
Who sees what
Your teammates get your voice, webcam, shared screen, chat and where you stand, sent straight from your browser to theirs and encrypted. Your webcam only goes to people near you (or to everyone during a standup).
The meeting server only helps browsers find each other when you join. It sees your network address, a random id and which ids connect, never voice, video or chat.
Network addresses. Because calls go directly between browsers, people in the same room can see each other's network address, as with any peer-to-peer call. A relay server, if your team sets one up, hides them.
A public STUN server (Cloudflare's) is asked what your public address is, so a direct connection is possible. It sees your address and nothing else.
Camera, microphone and screen
Nothing is switched on until you do it, and your browser asks first. The Mic, Camera and Share screen buttons always show what is live.
Transcription (optional)
If you switch it on, Chrome, Edge and Safari send your audio to their own speech service to turn it into text. Transcripts stay on your screen unless someone downloads them.
Kept on this device
Your name, look, face picture, settings, room and (if you set one) room password are saved in this browser so you don't retype them. On a shared computer, use a private window or clear them here.
Stays on your device until you join, then it is sent to teammates as a tiny picture.
